Since we LOVE our readers so much, Amanda, Emi and I thought it would be fun to let our readers ask us some questions. Several friends have mentioned needing quick advice on paint colors, arranging open shelving, the best height for an upholstered headboard, to slip cover or not to slip cover, etc. So…the ball is in your court. Fire away. We are ready. There is not a silly question, so bring ‘em on. Throw some pictures in there too if you want. This should be fun.
While y’all are thinking, I thought I might throw in some of the things I LOVE since that’s what Valentine’s day is all about.
Where to begin??
To keep this from getting out of control, I’ll attempt to keep this relevant to interiors…otherwise I will get off on things like spring time, dark chocolate, a super sweet baby girl named Cates, great wine, answered prayers, surprise lunch dates with the hubs, finding a great pair of pants that are actually long enough, fabulous employees, etc. I’ll stop there. Is there much better than Valentine’s day?!
Things I love at the moment…(I change my mind often)
LOVE finding a space I would never put together for myself but totally appreciate and really like. A recent favorite is this cozy little nook. I am obsessed with this coral color!! When it comes to my own house, I am totally non color committal. I’m too frugal minded to put such a commitment to color in such a large space. Regardless, I love this. I adore the print on the drapery, fabulous mix of mod and classic with the great table, always need a great animal print and love it on these chairs, white hides are a must, love the antlers on the wall… this is a wonderful mix of young and traditional. Seriously want to live there.
This is totally unlike me too, but I love the punch of color on these chests of drawers. The details on the bottom of the chevron piece and the delicate white lines on the orange piece make them come to life. Anyone can slap a coat of paint on a piece…paying attention to the details is a different story. I love the major punch of color this offers…certainly a conversation piece in a room.
Obsessed with this one too. I’m starting to work on Cates’s big girl room. Not that I plan to put her in there anytime soon… I love the height of the bed and the tape detail, the subtle pink, the tufting in the headboard, the embroidered pillow and even the houndstooth. Those who know me well enough know I’ve come a long way with the color pink for Cates.
I’ll update on the big girl room when it actually starts.
Enough about what I love. Can’t wait to hear about what you love!
Hope everyone has a lovely Valentine’s day.
XOXO

I love that banquet… I want to do one for my breakfast room.
I am also loving bar carts right now. So classic!
What is a good grey/blue paint color that won’t look too blue once it’s on the wall?
Austere Gray by Sherwin Williams is my favorite!

Agree with Amanda – GREAT color!

I showed that same cozy nook from Southern Living to Cis recently, Ashley! I want to sit right there every morning and have coffee and every afternoon with my book and tea! Everything about it is perfect. Happy Valentine’s Day to you, B and C! xoxo, E
HA!! I thought it looked just like Cis too!! Hope you and C had a great V day!! xoxo
What does a guy have to do to show the woman he loves how proud of her he is? How about a fabulous Valentine’s Day dinner?
Hey Ashley! Love the question and answer session! So…we’re thinking of ways to soften up Clay’s house for when we get married, and we’re looking at couch ideas. The couch will sit across from a flat screen mounted on the wall–pretty high. You have to look up a little. Would it even out the room to get a couch with a high back on it? So it doesn’t look like there is as much difference between the height of the tv and the place where you sit to watch it?
Thanks friend! Great seeing you the other day!
Hey Melissa!
There are other great ways to make the space balance! Instead of being concerned about the height of the back of the sofa consider hanging art over it or placing some great floor lamps on either side of the sofa. It will visually balance the space without making the search for a sofa restricted to one with a high back.
Hope this helps!

I love that I found your blog! The transformation of the teenage girl’s room was genius! Love, love, love it!
I also love the owl lamp on the chevron chest of drawers. Can you give me purchase info on it. Thanks…
Thanks so much! We love the bedroom too. It was such a fun transformation!
The painted chevron chest picture is so fun! It is simply an inspiration picture so unfortunately we don’t have any pricing info for you.
Thanks for your interest in our blog!!
