color me happy… (a work in progress!)

Happy Thursday PARISH fans!

It’s no secret that over the past few months, we have been busy little ladies!! We have truly been blessed with oodles of fun clients that make our jobs feel less like work and more like fabulous adventures! We truly love what we do! Today, we want to share some highlights from a “work in progress” that we can’t stop daydreaming about! Install day is just around the corner and we are thrilled!

This client (and friend) is one of our favorites!! She and her family (including 3 little boys) are all about playing and relaxing in their home and enjoying each other’s company. We wanted her space to be fresh, fun, and very livable…. and COLORFUL! This new home is filled with natural elements and textures including pecky cypress, stone fireplaces, exposed brick, and lots of dark hardwoods. Ashley has a special knack for knowing where to soften the space and where to really embrace the heavy finishes in order to make an impact.

These are just a few of our selections for the Living Room! We wanted this space to feel very “easy.” As with every job, our main goal is to make the client happy and feel comfortable! By using slipcovers, minimal pops of color, and timeless patterns including ticking stripes (our favorite!), the space feels sophisticated and comfy. Three (yes three!) sofas and two swivel gliders will soften the room and serve as lots of seating for this sweet growing family!

OB-wise playroom

For a family with three boys under the age of 5, a fabulous playroom is a MUST! Who knew carpet tile could be so much fun!?! Long gone are the days of scary, dirty playroom floors… These tiles can be removed and replaced if they get a little too much love! We have a fun white (sunbrella) window seat cushion in the works that will have funky lime piping and will be topped with oodles of funky pillows!! We have no doubts that this space will be a hit with all of those sweet boys!!

These are a few of our selections for the kitchen! We loved the idea of a table top that could handle all of the spilled drinks, sippy cups, and daily activities that come with children… and ZINC was the answer! We paired this fun oval zinc table with french leather chairs in a fab persimmon color! The juxtaposition between the straight, stiff lines of the table with the curves of the french chairs is to die for… and the egg branch chandelier is the cherry on top! We cant wait to show you this finished kitchen!!

We hope you all found some inspiration for your next project! Have a great week and stay tuned for another job-in-progress teaser next week!

Pumpkins, pumpkins and more pumpkins! Oh…and a GIVEAWAY, too!

I know that we have been jumping the gun over here when it comes to Christmas. We just can’t help that we’re full of the Christmas spirit!!! But, we do realize that Thanksgiving is less than a week away! Fall really is my favorite time of year…pumpkins, cool weather, football, pumpkin spice lattes, the list goes on and on. In my house September means football so the pumpkins don’t make their debut until October 1st. I don’t decorate specifically for Halloween or Thanksgiving. I put all sorts of pumpkins out and that’s where they stay from the beginning of October until the day after Thanksgiving. I hope y’all haven’t thrown your pumpkins away yet because this post is all about decorating with pumpkins! Below are some pictures showing how we have decorated with pumpkins in our own homes and then some of our favorite ways to incorporate them into yours!

pumpkins

These beauties are from the Curb Market downtown. Every year I decorate the fireplace with pumpkins of different shapes, colors and sizes. That beautiful lantern was a wedding gift and I filled it with small pumpkins to add a special touch.

Once again the Curb Market helped us out with these gorgeous heirloom pumpkins that we used in PARISH. They were then taken to Ashley’s house to add a whimsical touch to Cates’ Cinderella themed birthday party!

Below are our favorite ways to decorate with pumpkins. We hope they inspire you to add some Fall fun to your home for this Thanksgiving holiday!

I love that these tiny pumpkins are lying on a bed of Rosemary. What the perfect touch for a Thanksgiving centerpiece.

This centerpiece can be found on the Nest blog.

Below are some pictures from one of my absolute favorite bloggers, Jenny Hobick.  Her blog, “Everyday Occasions” inspires me every time I read it and when I refer to Jenny my husband knows exactly who I am talking about :) She has a “Fall Guide” tab at the top of her blog making it super easy to choose between décor, recipes and entertaining.

GOING GREY

Grey is one of those colors that can be a little bit scary to work with. I guess it’s because its easy to think of grey as a boring color that you often see in a gloomy office space. Well… get used to it! It is such a great neutral. It provides drama, warmth, and impact.

Whites and golds are a great way to brighten up a gray room and keep it from feeling gloomy.

Throw in some stained wood to make it a little more traditional.

It’s also a good color for trim! It’s a little unexpected and can add some interest to a traditional space.

These bunk beds are just so fun! They went with grey walls, trim, stairs and I wouldn’t change it for a second.

Now for some rooms that definitely went for the drama factor…

That last one was the home of the AMAZING Bobby McAlpine. I mean… it doesn’t get much more spectacular than that.

Hopefully I’ve inspired some of you to step out of your comfort zone and add some grey to your homes too!
