GOING GREY

Grey is one of those colors that can be a little bit scary to work with. I guess it’s because its easy to think of grey as a boring color that you often see in a gloomy office space. Well… get used to it! It is such a great neutral. It provides drama, warmth, and impact.

Whites and golds are a great way to brighten up a gray room and keep it from feeling gloomy.

Throw in some stained wood to make it a little more traditional.

It’s also a good color for trim! It’s a little unexpected and can add some interest to a traditional space.

These bunk beds are just so fun! They went with grey walls, trim, stairs and I wouldn’t change it for a second.

Now for some rooms that definitely went for the drama factor…

That last one was the home of the AMAZING Bobby McAlpine. I mean… it doesn’t get much more spectacular than that.

Hopefully I’ve inspired some of you to step out of your comfort zone and add some grey to your homes too!

IT’S A…

Well Paul and I are excited to share with all of our readers that we are having a sweet little boy!!  I am engulfing myself in visions of blue, skinned knees, footballs, and sweet smelly hugs!!  We could not be more excited!!

I will keep you guys posted on the nursery.  I am in full swing, and totally embracing all things blue!!  Have a great week!

What do you LOVE?

Since we LOVE our readers so much, Amanda, Emi and I thought it would be fun to let our readers ask us some questions.  Several friends have mentioned needing quick advice on paint colors, arranging open shelving, the best height for an upholstered headboard, to slip cover or not to slip cover, etc.  So…the ball is in your court.  Fire away.  We are ready.  There is not a silly question, so bring ‘em on.  Throw some pictures in there too if you want.  This should be fun.

While y’all are thinking, I thought I might throw in some of the things I LOVE since that’s what Valentine’s day is all about.

Where to begin??

To keep this from getting out of control, I’ll attempt to keep this relevant to interiors…otherwise I will get off on things like spring time, dark chocolate, a super sweet baby girl named Cates, great wine, answered prayers, surprise lunch dates with the hubs, finding a great pair of pants that are actually long enough, fabulous employees, etc.  I’ll stop there.  Is there much better than Valentine’s day?!

Things I love at the moment…(I change my mind often)

LOVE finding a space I would never put together for myself but totally appreciate and really like.  A recent favorite is this cozy little nook.  I am obsessed with this coral color!!  When it comes to my own house, I am totally non color committal.  I’m too frugal minded to put such a commitment to color in such a large space.  Regardless, I love this.  I adore the print on the drapery, fabulous mix of mod and classic with the great table, always need a great animal print and love it on these chairs, white hides are a must, love the antlers on the wall… this is a wonderful mix of young and traditional.  Seriously want to live there.

LOVE it!!

This is totally unlike me too, but I love the punch of color on these chests of drawers.  The details on the bottom of the chevron piece and the delicate white lines on the orange piece make them come to life.  Anyone can slap a coat of paint on a piece…paying attention to the details is a different story.  I love the major punch of color this offers…certainly a conversation piece in a room.

Obsessed with this one too. I’m starting to work on Cates’s big girl room. Not that I plan to put her in there anytime soon… I love the height of the bed and the tape detail, the subtle pink, the tufting in the headboard, the embroidered pillow and even the houndstooth.  Those who know me well enough know I’ve come a long way with the color pink for Cates. :)  I’ll update on the big girl room when it actually starts.

Enough about what I love.  Can’t wait to hear about what you love!

Hope everyone has a lovely Valentine’s day.
