the best YES… and a giveaway!

Hi PARISH friends!

Every now and then, something great comes along, whether its the hottest new lipstick or the perfect pair of skinnies, and as an office of five women, we feel that its our duty to share it with you! We have entirely too much fun at work (if that’s possible) and truly enjoy chatting about life, love, babies, and of course interior design! :)

A few weeks ago, I started reading a book called “The Best Yes” by Lysa Terkeurst… and folks, it’s my duty to share this amazing book with you! If I didn’t, I would feel like I found the perfect mascara and didn’t tell anyone. How wrong would that be?! But really… back to the book- It’s all about letting God direct you when to say YES and when to say NO. This sounds easy, but for people pleasers like myself- this can be a daunting task. The author calls this a “disease to please”… I couldn’t agree more! The truth is that sometimes, saying yes to everything (even the good things) is actually taking us away from time we could spend being closer to God or glorifying him in a greater way than we imagined! It is so easy for me to miss the big picture sometimes, and get caught up doing all of these little things that I’ve said yes to. We are truly over-committed and exhausted because we need to learn to say no!

What about saying YES?! This is really where the book got me. I like to think that we all have a dreamy little list in our heads of things we want to do someday… some things that are so bold, they kinda scare you! Those things you can’t quit thinking about are often the perfect things to say YES to! Whether it’s adopting a child, opening a business, or mentoring teenagers, saying yes is actually glorifying God because you’re doing something He’s specifically placed on your heart. So cool! Wouldn’t it be a shame that if by saying yes to the easy things, that we missed out on something great?! I surely don’t want to miss out on the best YES!!

This precious author asks great questions so that we can learn how to discern a yes from a no, and be educated enough to make tough decisions on a daily basis. The book is a great, quick read, and if you’re like me, you’ll be so sucked in that you’ll read it with a highlighter! (That’s a true sign that I’m engaged and paying attention! haha)

My favorite line from the book is this one: “Never is a woman so fulfilled as when she chooses to underwhelm her schedule so she can let God overwhelm her soul.” How huge is that?!!

The author hones in on Romans 8:28 (my personal favorite) to remind us that God uses the good and not-so-good parts of the decisions that we make for his glory. Our imperfections can never override His promises! Don’t you just love those little reminders?

Because we are SO hooked on this fabulous book, we have decided to give away some! If you would like one, please comment on this post below with your email address so that we can contact you! Your heart will absolutely be blessed!

… now, onto finding that perfect mascara. :)

Until next time,

PS… speaking of using our time more wisely and saying YES to great things… we have decided to open late on Wednesdays at 11 so that we can take part in Montgomery’s Bible Study Fellowship! Feel free to join us (and lots of other fabulous ladies) tomorrow at Ridgecrest Baptist Church!

Happy Thursday PARISH Friends!

I hope everyone is having a great week so far!! Martha Ann, Rebecca, and  I have been holding down the fort at PARISH and AGID while Ashley and Jessica are finishing up their trip in Europe! They are currently in Wiltshire shopping around and we can only assume they are finding some fabulous treasures for both the shop and for some clients!! We hope that everyone is following along on Instagram and Facebook! You will not be disappointed that’s for sure!!

Today, we thought it would be fun to share how we would indulge our design obsessions at PARISH if we suddenly found a little extra cash…$100!!

I would definitely buy art or design books! I  absolutely LOVE to collect books and I am a firm believer in that you can never own too many of them! They are the perfect addition to any coffee table, book shelf, night stand, etc… A few that have my eye right now….

{all available at PARISH}

Martha Ann

I would have to buy these fabulous Willow Wrapped Canisters for my kitchen! My husband and I have just moved back to Montgomery and are in the midst of unpacking and getting settled… these would be the perfect the addition to our kitchen to hold my various cooking ingredients!! Cooking is my absolute favorite hobby.. so naturally I would choose something for the kitchen! :)

I would choose a potted Preserved Boxwood because plants give life to any room and you always need a little green!! These are the best because there is no upkeep… and for those who don’t have a green thumb.. look no further!!

We hope yall enjoyed what we would splurge on if given the chance… now if I could only have a money tree in the back yard!!!!

If you didn’t get a chance to check out our last post…. don’t forget to mark those calendars on July 24th for our trunk show featuring Vintage Green Jewelry and Amanda Roberson Art!!

Until next time!

Cherio, Au Revoir, see you all when we return!

Hi PARISH friends!!

As everyone celebrates Independence Day, Ashley and I will be heading out on our European shopping adventure! We are so excited and wanted to share all of our fun plans with you!!

We will be landing in the beautiful city of Brussels, and from there will travel to Sussex, London, Wiltshire, Cotswolds, Lille, and Tongeren (just to name a few cities!) We have a couple of fabulous guides that will be translating and directing us to some shops along the way! Oh how I wish I had taken a French class in college… My high school Latin has yet to serve me any purpose! Maybe one day… :)

Brussels, Belgium

Lille, France

London, England

Sussex, England

cotsoldsCotswolds, England (For all of you movie buffs… Harry Potter, Bridget Jones Diary, and Pride and Prejudice were filmed here!)

We will be scouring through flea markets, antique stores, and warehouses looking for the perfect pieces for our clients and for PARISH! Ashley and I will be instagram-ing pictures of our finds along the way!

We have lots of travel time and very long flights ahead of us, so today Ashley and I are sharing our favorite travel essentials!!

travel essentials

  1. Water! (No one likes a thirsty shopper…)
  2. Lip Balm (Rosebud Salve is one of our favorites!)
  3. Lilly Pulitzer Traveler Pant (Ladies, go buy these pants NOW! They are the best skinnies on earth… and called “the traveler” for a reason!)
  4. A great bag- I love a classic tote from Kate Spade…or Tory Burch… or Chanel. :)
  5. Comfortable black wedges- Jessica Simpson nailed it with these!
  6. Cute flats… for when those comfy wedges fail you. My favorite pair from Steve Madden is slim enough to fit in my purse!
  7. A Fab scarf! If you can rock an Hermes scarf, then by all means do- but a sleek polka dot will work for this girl!
  8. Granola bars- It is rare, if ever, that Ashley and I sit down for lunch…so snacks on the go are essential!
  9. Tylenol PM- obviously. We’re planning to get some good napping in on the plane. This might be Ashley’s first nap since the kiddos were born :)
  10. Books and Magazines- Rarely do we get a sec to kick back and read! We’re planning to read in between naps! :) I’m psyched to start Elizabeth Smart’s new book and sift through a pile of magazines!

Wish us luck and keep up with our European adventure by using #AFGIDdoesEurope! We will see you all very soon!
